This mandala was created with redwood fronds, gathered shortly after I returned to Northern California and settled in Sacramento—a city I had never lived in before.
And yet, there was a quiet sense of recognition. As if I had been here all along… as if I never really left.
I spent nearly a decade living in the San Francisco Bay Area, where redwoods became a familiar presence in my life. Now, having a giant redwood tree in the front yard of my home feels deeply meaningful—almost like a full circle moment I didn’t see coming.
In a quiet, unexpected way, it felt like home found me again.
This piece was created from that feeling—a reflection of belonging, of returning, of finding myself in a place that somehow already knows me.
It is the ninth mandala in my ongoing mandala cyanotype series, a body of work that traces my personal journey through time, transition, and becoming.
