This botanical cyanotype is a hand-printed original, created by carefully arranging cheatgrass directly onto a sheet of pre-treated cyanotype paper that I prepared in advance. The exposure was achieved using natural sunlight. Then the paper was washed with water to get a final blueprint. Cyanotype is a historic alternative photographic process dating back to the late 18th century, requiring no camera or digital negatives — plants served as the negatives to bring this piece to life.
The paper I used creating this piece was Hahnemühle Platinum Rag fine art paper, 100% cotton and archival quality. Art size (each) 18’’ x 24’’, custom framed and matted to 22’’ x 28’’.
Artwork is stamped, signed and numbered as 1/1 by artist.
These artworks are framed with conservation mat boards and behind UV-protective acrylic (99% UV protection) to ensure their longevity.
