Cyanotype with Slender Wild Oats, 1/1, 2025
This botanical cyanotype is a hand-printed original, created by carefully arranging wild oats directly onto a sheet of pre-treated cyanotype paper that I prepared in advance. The exposure was achieved using natural sunlight. Then was washed with water to get a final blueprint. Cyanotype is a historic alternative photographic process dating back to the late 18th century, requiring no camera or digital negatives — plants served as the negatives to bring this piece to life.
The paper I used creating this piece was Hahnemühle Platinum Rag fine art paper, 100% cotton and archival quality.
Art size 22’’x30’’, custom framed and matted to 26’’ x 34’’. Museum plexiglass.
Artwork is framed with conservation mat board and behind UV-protective acrylic (99% UV protection) to ensure their longevity.
