This botanical cyanotype is a hand-printed original, created by putting a real fan palm leaf directly onto a sheet of pre-treated cyanotype paper that I made in advance. The exposure was achieved using natural sunlight. Then paper was washed with water to get a final blueprint.
Cyanotype is a historic alternative (cameraless) photographic process dating back to the late 18th century, requiring no camera or digital negatives — plants served as the negatives to bring this piece to life.
The paper I used creating this piece was Hahnemühle Platinum Rag fine art paper, 100% cotton and archival quality.
Art size 20’’ x 30’’/each, custom framed and float-mounted to 24’’x30’’.
These artworks are custom framed with solid wood frame.
