This botanical cyanotype is a hand-printed original, created by carefully arranging pressed Queen anne’s lace directly onto a sheet of pre-treated cyanotype paper that I pre-treated in advance. The exposure was achieved using natural sunlight. Then paper was washed with water to get a final blueprint.
Cyanotype is a historic alternative (cameraless) photographic process dating back to the late 18th century, requiring no camera or digital negatives — plants served as the negatives to bring this piece to life.
The paper I used creating this piece was Hahnemühle Platinum Rag fine art paper, 100% cotton and archival quality.
Art size 22’’ x 30’’/each, custom framed and matted to 26”x34’’ .
These artworks are custom framed with solid wood frame, using conservation mat boards and behind UV-protective acrylic (99% UV protection) to ensure their longevity.
